As a trades person, Osteopathy can be highly beneficial to keeping you working, protecting your reputation and protecting your income and family.
Trades people are subject to a lot of different stressors than your average office worker.
Carrying heavy tools, crawling into awkward spaces, climbing ladders, exposure to high levels of dust and pollutants. Prolonged periods of repetitive strain, looking up for 8 hrs when fitting lights, or plastering etc, or prolonged periods bent over a hole in the floor fitting new plumbing, or bent over fitting new flooring.
These all take a toll on your body, day in, day out, week in week out, if you do not take care of yourself, eventually your body will make you stop.
Yes you can ignore the warning signs, that little niggle in your back, neck or shoulder, which used to go away in a few days, is now taking a week to subside, and you are surviving on painkillers, but not for long.
Then it happens, your pain is so bad that you cannot take on or finish a job, your client gets the hump with you, and gets someone else. Your reputation is damaged, and you’ve lost income, which puts more stress on your business and home life. Not a good position, and is a conversation we have daily with patients who have ended up in that position.
To help you to keep working and support your clients, we have come up with the White Van-Man Plan
It’s aimed at you hardworking guys n gals who know the value of looking after themselves, so they can look after their clients and business.
- Step One: Book and attend an appointment for a thorough examination and assessment of your problem.
- Step Two: We agree and get started on a treatment plan to get you out of pain, giving you tips and preventative advice (approximately 3-6 sessions depending on your problem, current health etc).
- Step Three: Once you are feeling good and able to function normally at work, we schedule a maintenance visit to review again, and treat any niggles which have recurred. (typically ranges between 6 to 12 weeks dependent on the individual)
