Traditional Acupuncture is an ancient method of healing that encourages the body to promote its natural healing process. Very fine, disposable needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points along affected channels of energy in the body, known as meridians. These will stimulate the flow of energy, known as Qi.
However, there is a Westernised version of Acupuncture, known as dry needling. There is more of a medical understanding as well as application involved in this form. The needles are inserted to Trigger Points in the muscles, which were previously referred to as “knots”, to relieve pain and improve function.
